Who were the Marabus?

The marabus were sharecroppers on the properties of Armenian and Greek landowners. Some Armenian marabus, but mostly Nusayri (Fallah or Tat) marabus worked for those landlords, sharing either half or quarter of the profits (or losses), depending on the agreement.
